Art Spark

Art Spark is one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to interact with your child's classroom!

A volunteer comes in to lead a 30-minute classroom session to go over a portfolio that includes artwork, a lesson, an activity and some supporting information.

How It Works:

1.Sign up to Volunteer

By signing up you are committing to help with the entire Art Spark program in that classroom. The program runs from November to April (6 lessons in total)

Sign up here: Red Rock PTO: ArtSpark Classroom Volunteer 2023-2024 (signupgenius.com)

**You must have a background check on file with the district to volunteer in the school: www.sowashco.org/get-involved/volunteer

2. Correspond with your teacher

Once you sign up to volunteer for a classroom, coordinate with the classroom teacher to set up the best dates and times for each month to come in and do the lesson.

3. Receive and Review that Month's project

The portfolios are kept in the PTO room at school; however, you can familiarize yourself with the lesson ahead of time by going to HERE. Additionally, please also click on the link to fill out the calendar to include your name, time and portfolio you will be using on a certain day.

Each of these portfolios contains everything you need: 3-4 poster reprints of the artworks and a lesson plan to walk through. Even if you are not an expert on art, you can do this! You can use the questions and answers on the back of the artwork to guide a discussion and/or do the activities.  Have fun with it!
