February 6 - All Parent PTO Meeting

posted Jan 25, 2012 11:58 AM by Red Rock   [ updated Feb 8, 2012 6:37 AM ]

Heads Up:  Learn about the Signs and Symptoms of Concussions in Youth Sports and Activities.

Rachel Winthrop is a Physical Therapist Assistant and community liaison/health educator for the concussion clinic at Bethesda Hospital. The concussion clinic recognizes the seriousness of feeling "dazed" after an incident, whether you have hit your head or not.  And we know what symptoms may or may not persist after an injury/concussion.

Rachel will talk about signs and symptoms of a concussion, go through baseline testing (what is needed, what it looks like, what information is provided), the treatment of a concussion, and where do you go post concussion.  Remember a concussion is not just "a ringing of the bell" but a brain injury.

Learn how Non-Verbal Communication is helping our Red Rock students

posted Nov 9, 2011 11:25 AM by Red Rock   [ updated Nov 9, 2011 11:32 AM ]

Have you noticed a change in the level of noise throughout Red Rock this year? The hallways and the cafeteria are now quiet zones - and the students are just fine with it! In fact, this new way has received a “thumbs up” from both the students and faculty! What’s the secret? A program called ENVoY. The PTO is so impressed with this program, we asked that Red Rock parents get an opportunity to learn more about it – and perhaps we can apply some of these techniques at home!  Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Patchett have graciously accepted our invitation to provide an overview of the ENVoY program at the next All-Parent PTO meeting. Please come!
